| Introduction | | | Introduction The Northwest Territories Teachers' Association (NWTTA) is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information. Except when required or permitted by law, it will not disclose personal information without consent or reasonable and lawful notice. Because legislation governing the protection of privacy in the private sector is new, the NWTTA may need to revise its guidelines from time to time. However, the NWTTA wants to assure its members, associates and employees that it takes seriously its responsibility to protect the privacy of any personal information that it collects. Privacy legislation requires that the NWTTA obtain an individual's consent to collect, use or disclose his or her personal information unless that information was already in its custody or control before January 1, 2004, and it is using it for the same purposes as before. The NWTTA will handle personal information coming into its custody or control after January 1, 2004, in accordance with the policy outlined in this document. | | |
